Our pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) includes two suites of eight rooms each, located around a central nursing station. Each child has his or her own room. Glass walls allow nursing staff to see all patients, but curtains can be drawn to offer privacy for patients and their parents.
Parents of children in the PICU are welcome to stay with their child. There are bedside sleeping accommodations; but there are no bedside phones for parents' use in the PICU rooms. The PICU family waiting area includes a kitchenette, bathroom and shower, a private consultation room, a phone and couches that may be used for resting.
Visits by brothers or sisters under the age of 16 must be coordinated with the bedside nurse or child life specialist. Please be prepared to provide immunization records and disease exposure information at the main desk upon entering the PICU. Brothers and sisters may not stay overnight.
Rooms and family suites are available at the Ronald McDonald House. Please see the section on the Ronald McDonald House for more information.
Flowers are not allowed in the PICU.
To request entrance into the PICU, please use the telephone located on the right side of the double doors.
