Forensic psychiatry and psychology are subspecialties that address the interface between mental health issues and the legal system. The Forensic Mental Health Program at Brown University’s Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior, a multidisciplinary program, consists of faculty from the disciplines of psychiatry, psychology, pediatrics, social work, and the law.
This program is dedicated to promoting excellence in the areas of education, training, clinical consultation, research, and community improvement. The faculty members represent nationally recognized leaders in their respective fields and professional organizations. The Forensic Mental Health Program is undergoing significant growth in its diversity and relationships with institutions throughout the state of Rhode Island and beyond. A one-year Forensic Psychiatry Fellowship Program began in July 2013.
