In 2007, Hasbro Children's Hospital became a member of Children's Miracle Network Hospitals and is now the only hospital in Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts with this esteemed designation.
Children's Miracle Network Hospitals is a nonprofit international alliance of premier pediatric hospitals dedicated to saving and improving the lives of children by raising funds for lifesaving equipment, charity care and cutting-edge research. Hasbro Children's Hospital is one of 170 children's hospitals affiliated with Children's Miracle Network Hospitals providing the finest care and community outreach to millions of children with diseases and injuries of every kind.
More than a dozen North American outlets, thousands of retailer employees, and millions of supporters are dedicating the month of May to help sick and injured kids receiving treatment at Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.
Did you know that one in 10 kids in North America is treated by Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals each year? Our 170 hospitals rely on your local support to provide the absolute best in care for these kids. Your support goes to research and training, purchasing equipment, and paying for uncompensated care, all in support of our mission to save and improve the lives of as many kids as possible.

Now through May 11, Rhode Island-area Rite Aid associates will ask customers to purchase an EPIC-themed Miracle Balloon for a minimum $1 donation to support Hasbro Children’s Hospital, a Children’s Miracle Network Hospital. Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals was recently announced as the national charity partner of the new animated adventure, EPIC, from Fox Animation and Blue Sky Studios.
Rite Aid, one of the nation’s leading drugstore chains and a top Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals partner, will debut the “Make an EPIC Difference for Kids” campaign theme. Heroes who save the day on the big screen will appear in Rite Aid’s spring campaign, inviting customers to support real-life little heroes receiving treatment at Hasbro Children’s Hospital.
“People
have come to recognize our yellow and red balloon as the symbol for
hope, healing and improving local pediatric care,” said John Lauck,
president and CEO, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. “We’re
delighted to invigorate the Rite Aid campaign with lively characters and
colorful imagery from EPIC, a movie that celebrates the smallest heroes
fits perfectly with our mission to save the smallest heroes—courageous
children fighting for their lives.”
“Rite Aid is proud to make an ‘EPIC’ difference in the lives of sick and injured children in our communities,” said Ken Martindale, Rite Aid chief operating officer and president of The Rite Aid Foundation. “Our associates put forth an amazing effort to support CMN Hospitals each year and featuring EPIC will motivate us to raise even more money to help kids who need it most.”
“We are grateful to Rite Aid’s associates and customers in the community for taking part in the Miracle Balloon campaign and ensuring that we will remain a beacon of hope for thousands of children and families throughout southeastern New England,” said Robert B. Klein, M.D., pediatrician-in-chief at Hasbro Children’s Hospital.
All funds raised in Rhode Island during the seven-week fundraising campaign will go directly to Hasbro Children’s Hospital. Since 1994, Rite Aid has raised more than $56 million for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals on a national basis.
Thanks to everyone who participated in the 2013 Hasbro Children’s Hospital Radiothon for making it such a success. |
Our 2012 Champion Child
When Tony was born, he was given one year to live. More than a decade later, Tony works hard every day to stay healthy and battle epidermolysis bullosa, a rare skin disease that causes constant wounding. In addition to defying the doctor’s timetable, Tony excels in the fast-growing technology world. Known as the “whiz kid” by his friends, he hopes to someday develop apps for Apple. Tony does not let his “challenge”—as he likes to call it—get him down. Instead, he works hard to inspire other children and show them that he is just like them, even if he looks a little different. His loving personality and friendly demeanor inspire children and adults. While defying time, Tony also greatly enjoys the present and simply finds joy in laser tag, camping, bowling and movies.
