Margaret M. Van Bree, MHA, DrPH
President, Rhode Island Hospital and its Hasbro Children's Hospital

Margaret M. Van Bree, MHA, DrPH was appointed president of Rhode Island Hospital and its Hasbro Children’s Hospital in 2015. She directs planning, development, operations and evaluation and provides direction and leadership to advance the hospital’s mission of delivering health with care to the southern New England community. Her previous position was senior vice president and CEO of St. Luke’s Medical Center, and she has also been CEO at a number of academic medical centers. Among her notable recognitions are Becker’s Hospital Review’s 130 Women Hospital and Health System Leaders to Know and 100 Leaders of Great Hospital in America. She is a member and fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. Dr. Van Bree earned a doctoral degree in health systems management from Tulane University, a master’s degree in health care administration from the University of Minnesota, and a bachelor’s degree in community health education from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.

Mamie Wakefield
Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Lifespan

Mary Wakefield is Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Lifespan Corporation. Prior to her current position she was Vice President of Finance for Lifespan Corporation and Chief Financial Officer hospitals (1997-2005). Before joining Lifespan, she worked for KPMG LLP as an audit partner, specializing in health care clients during the last five years of her tenure. She received her bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University and is a certified public accountant.
