From initial diagnosis through survivorship, children and adolescents with leukemia or lymphoma receive comprehensive, state-of-the-art care. Access to cutting-edge therapeutic protocols and new medications is available to our patients by participation in Children's Oncology Group and Dana Farber Leukemia Consortium treatment studies. Families may also participate in Hasbro Children's Hospital-initiated clinical trials.

The Hemostasis and Thrombosis Center is a federally funded comprehensive center for the screening, diagnosis and treatment of patients with hemophilia, other bleeding disorders and thrombotic disorders. Our team includes physicians, nurses, physical therapists and a clinical social worker and counselor, providing the highest quality of care through a multidisciplinary approach to health and well-being.

The Sickle Cell and Thalassemia Program provides comprehensive care for children with hemoglobinopathies. Both outpatient and inpatient care are available in a supportive, respectful atmosphere. Our team often meets the family at birth (or even sooner, with prenatal diagnosis) and provides care into adulthood. Multidisciplinary care is carefully coordinated among the families, schools, physicians and nurses with many different areas of expertise.

With the support of the National Institute of Health's Oncofertility Consortium, experimental procedures are being offered at Women & Infants Hospital in conjunction with Hasbro Children's Hospital, that will enable physicians to freeze tissue from the ovaries of cancer patients. Once the child is cured of her cancer and ready to have children this tissue may be transplanted back into her body or eggs may be extracted from the tissue for in vitro fertilization.

The CHAMPS (Comprehensive Health Assessment and Management for Pediatric Cancer Survivors) Program provides health assessment, education about late effects, counseling, and management of conditions that arise following cancer treatment. Anyone who was treated for cancer as a child or adolescent, is cancer-free, and who is five or more years past diagnosis can participate in the CHAMPS Program.
