Information for Visitors

Visitor Badge System

Beginning on January 8, 2018, Hasbro Children’s Hospital will have a badge system for visitors to limit the spread of germs, allow time for patients and families to rest, reduce noise during visiting hours, and provide a safe environment.

  • A maximum of four blue badges are issued for parents or guardians (those with yellow or blue wristbands).
  • To enter the unit, others must have one of three red “visitor” badges allotted to each family. An adult must accompany any visitor under age 16.
  • Sibling badges marked with an “S” sticker are given to children age 12 and older, but are not counted against the allowance of three “visitor” badges.
  • A staff member might question you if you are not wearing a badge because these rules are for the health and safety of our patients.
  • Parents may request that a social worker arrange for a large or otherwise special group to visit.

Visiting a Patient

Visits from family and friends can lift a hospitalized child’s spirits. Our rules for visitors ensure a secure, healing environment for our patients.

Every year, from October 1 until the flu season is declared over, children under age 12 are not permitted to visit Hasbro Children’s patients. This policy protects our patients by preventing the spread of flu.

When children are in our pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) there is a limit of two visitors at any time. If you have any questions, please speak with your child's nurse. More about PICU guidelines for visitors

Visiting Hours

Visiting hours are from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.

Parents, please see your nurse with any questions about the best time to schedule visits for your child. Visitors should call the hospital's patient information line at 401-444-5421 to confirm visiting hours for patients who are critically ill.

Patient Information

Parents and family members can call our patient information desk at 401-444-5421 for a condition update. Under federal patient privacy rules, parents can choose to limit the release of information to others.
